Irazu Orosi Lankester

We take the Pan-American Highway South, to start ascending the large “Irazu”. The winding road travels through fertile lands cultivated with all kinds of vegetables as we observe a lovely panoramic view. On the top of the volcano you can observe the main craters and on a clear day both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans can be seen.
As we descend to the city of Cartago we will stop at the Virgin of the Angels church that according to religious custom is a peregrination site for many believers. After visiting the Church we will stop at Lankester Gardens, a University of Costa Rica Institute for investigation. This place protects more than 800 species of orchids, bromeliads and countless species of other plants.
We will continue on to Orosi Valley where the creation overflows in an unparallel beauty. We will be able to visit one of the few remaining colonial churches and stop for lunch in one of the local restaurants.
During our tour we will be able to observe “La Casa del Soñador” an example of Costa Rican primitive art.

Poas Volcano & La Paz Waterfall Gardens

We take the Pan-American Highway towards the city of Alajuela. In this route we pass throw the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park. As we ascend towards the volcano we stop for a brief explanation on our golden bean, coffee, and then continue our trip through fern, flower and strawberry farms.
There is a obvious change in the temperature and in the vegetation. This is going to prepare us for the pleasure of the exuberant cloud forest of Poas Volcano.
At the Volcano we will have time to observe the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles. Then we will hike on a trail to the beautiful Botos Lagoon that will allow us to learn about the different ecosystems in the park.
We will continue our trip towards the Caribbean, stopping to see La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a natural park where we will walk throw spectacular trails which will take us to White Magic Waterfall, the most spectacular one in the area. Inside the park we will also visit the largest butterfly observatory in the country that remains a collection of tropical jewels and the impressive hummingbird gallery, serpentarium, bird house & frogs exhibit.
Once we have finished our walk we will set off for a delicious lunch buffet and then begin our return trip to San Jose.

Canopy Tour

Definitely an adventure you can’t miss. We depart the city towards the mountains that surround the Central Valley, with spectacular scenery of vegetation and extensive coffee plantations, ornamental plants, pictures of typical towns in Costa Rica. As we ascend, we will enjoy of climatic changes.
This is an experience that is enjoyed only once, as we slide from one platform to the next one by flying throw the canopy. Canopy San Lorenzo is located in the middle of the tropical forest reserve in a beautiful area full of orchids, bromeliads and other ornamental plants.
The sliding cable is divided into two parts:
1-The forest section, starts with small cables so the passenger will acquire confidence while admiring the forest’s canopy.
2-The adventure section will have longer cables suspended from high platforms that require large doses of adrenaline.
The total length of the cable is of 2500 meters or 8.202,10 ft. There are 19 platforms and the San Lorenzo Canopy offers a 750-meter or 2.460,63 feet cable, the longest one in the country.
From one platform to the next, the guide will explain the most important features of the forest. Finally, after only a short walk, we will have a delicious lunch in the restaurant Gran Vista.

As we depart from San Jose we cross the Braulio Carrillo National Park arriving to Sarapiqui. Here both adventure attractions can be enjoyed: the Canopy Tour in the middle of the forest with high altitude trees and then Rafting in the waters of the Sarapiqui River. After this you can enjoy lunch.
The Canopy tour lasts one and a half hour, because you slide throw ten cables of different lengths and twelve platforms inside the forest.
Rafting on the Sarapiqui River on class II and class III rapids allows seeing a vibrant landscape for those who wish to enjoy this exciting activity. A group of unexpected rapids combined with slow relaxing stretches along 9-mile distance will make this an unforgettable experience for birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.

Day 1
Driving first past coffee plantations, we´ll head into the mountains of BRAULIO CARRILLO NATIONAL PARK, where steep slopes are covered with thick cloud forest and beautiful waterfalls can be seen from the road. Just after BRAULIO CARRILLO NATIONAL PARK, we stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast, complete with fresh fruit, coffee, eggs and the popular "gallo pinto".
We later abandon our bus and embark on the most exciting part of this tour: The boat trip into the jungle on the CARIBBEAN CANALS to the world famous TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK. Covering 1.800 hectares, TORTUGUERO in one of the most important nesting sites for Chelonia midas, the green sea turtle, whereas its forests and waterways are home for such endangered mammals as sloths, monkeys, agoutis, coati mundis and manatees. There are also abundant birds, such as toucans, trogons, egrets, herons and anbingas, as well as crocodiles, turtles and countless colorfull butterflies, including the beautiful blue morpho and the boat trip offers a chance to see many of these rare animals up close.
Arrival at the hotel and check into rooms. We will enjoy a hearty typical lunch to please the hungriest of appetites. Later, your tour guide will take you to explore the Tortuguero National Park and a walk around Tortuguero Town.
Back at the hotel you will have time to relax before dinner which will be served at 7:00 pm a
delicious dinner.
After dinner, your tour guide will explain the next activity, the "night tour", which consist of a boat trip to TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK to observe the nesting of the Giant Green Sea Turtle (only from July to October)..
Day 2
After breakfast, accompanied by our guide,we will board our boat to the world famous Tortuguero National Park. As the boat slowly cruises through the canals, we will have chance to observe a great variety of animals such as monkeys, iguanas, egrets, etc.
When whe return, lunch wil be served. And you can enjoy a free afternoon to relax or have a walk around the hotel areas.
After dinner, when possible you can join a magnificent turtle tour (from july to october only).
Day 3
After breakfast you check out en we start oure whe home, but not before we enjoy a different tour through a secundary canal.
Whe lunch and visit to the South end of the park including a walk in the rain forest and a boat tour to the California River to look for even more wild life
We wil return in San Jose aproc. at 7:30 pm
